Tool and mold making for optical applications
The spectrum of optical plastic components is constantly expanding to include innovative manufacturing technologies, materials and products. The aim of the conference is to take up material-related as well as technology-oriented and application-related aspects and to examine them against the background of current trends and questions in the field of polymer optics.
The online session “Tool and mold making for optical applications” is the third event of the online event series “Digital Aachen Polymer Optics Days”, which is composed of the contents of the presence conference of the same name. The on-site event, which was planned for October 2020, was cancelled due to security restrictions in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
The online sessions are aimed at an audience from science and industry and offer, in addition to numerous technical presentations, a networking and discussion round moderated by the photonics consortium EPIC.
From December 2020 to November 2021, the online sessions will take place quarterly on different topics. For further information please visit our event website.
The Digital Aachen Polymer Optics Days series is a joint event of the three research institutes:
- Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT
- Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT
- IKV – Institute for Plastics Processing in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen University of Technology

The participation fee is 100 Euro per online session or 300 Euro for the four online sessions (Materials, Tool and mold making, Metrology, Optical systems). The participation fee will be offset against the registration fee for the conference “Aachen Polymer Optics Days” (face-to-face event). Thus, the participation fee for the conference is reduced by 100 Euro. The offset applies to the early bird discount or to the regular registration fee, depending on when you register for the conference.
The conference “Aachen Polymer Optics Days” will be held on June 1-2, 2022 in Aachen, Germany.
